Bardic Inspiration

Bards are known for their magical songs, which they use to inspire their allies and weaken their enemies. They can use bardic inspiration as a bonus action to inspire one creature through stirring words or music.

Bardic inspiration technicalities

When you choose to use your Bardic Inspiration, you can inspire others through stirring words or music. To do so, you use a bonus action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear or see you. That creature gains one Inspiration die, a d6. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the die but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one die at a time.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and you regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest. The Bardic Inspiration die changes at certain levels in this class.

Bard and the bardic inspiration

If you have never played the bard class, I definitely recommend that you try it. Even if you don’t feel like a poet or a performer, playing the bard can bring a lot of fun moments but also encourage you to develop your imagination and creativity. Start with something simple and you can draw inspiration for the story and poetry from the characters you play and the events that take place in your campaign. If you are still not sure where to start and how to put your thoughts on paper, feel free to use our poems for inspiration.

Bardic inspiration poems

Eon is a changeling bard from the world of The Realms. Overbearing, conceited, and full of himself, Eon wears the faces of various personas. Proud and important. His story begins.

Lord Ellyrion Reaver

There once was a bard, or two, or three,
A lad or a lady, even lord he could be,
He came from the north or south, maybe west,
He joined a caravan to travel on a quest.
A new adventure awaited him in Ankapur,
But little did he know about the events that would occur,
One bottle of wine was enough to start a storm,
He found his advisor in a dungeon deformed,
And instead of fleeing, they began to plan,
How do they kill the responsible man?
The Lord didn't mind losing his tavern,
Even if it meant living in a cavern,
Now strongly and decisively they need to push ahead
This villain and a rat will pay with his head!

lute or mandolin

Tip Friend is a young corrupted soul. Drinking too much, playing lute, and wasting time is how he spends his days in Sharn. He carries a heavy burden inside. Slightly mad and with a distorted memory, he recalls his love, Isabel.

Isabel

The color of her pink hair
Shines brightly in the light
She gripped my heart so unfair
Her skin, so soft and white
I saw the life we could hold
We had to leave Cragwar
I packed my bag and my gold
I'll be her man and more

I can still hear the way that she cried
for the ones she was missing
I can still hear the way that she prayed
She prayed to let go

He led her to the tower
To plunge which caused a spark
In his heart, he felt the power
A blessing of the dark
He had seen the life he could hold
Merely left it to descend
He just stood there in the cold
Another version of a Friend

Le Docteur

His name was Docteur, he could kill you with a touch,
He talked to a lobster, peculiar as such
They say it was a curse
With the lobster to converse
But for his party, it was worse
With the Docteur to traverse.

Song of rest

I think it's best
We take a rest
We traveled far, far, far to the west
And we are blessed
That we can jest
And again put our strengths to the test.

Healing word

Raise from the ground
When you hear my song
Your allays are around
With us, you belong.
Let these words heal your wounds
Charge ahead to these sounds
There are more foes ahead
Take an axe, kill them dead!
